Hope on Stage
Sometimes “the sound of hope” is the sound of a talented cast and crew, performing on stage. We are thrilled to announce a partnership with CharACTers Entertainment for their current show, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This Saturday night, October 12th, 10% of all ticket sales will be donated to The Sound of Hope. We are grateful to be the “CharACTers Gives Back” beneficiary for this beautiful performance!
This story may be set in 1482… but many of the dangers our characters encounter still threaten vulnerable children today. As we learn from Quasimodo & Esmeralda – the world is a beautiful, but devastating, place.
The themes of this show parallel our work across the globe. Disease, infanticide, poverty, sexual assault, racism, refugee crises, genocide, the sex industry – these are all risks facing the children in our care. Many of the songs from this show and the lines from this script are scenes we have seen first hand – lived out in brothels, refugee camps, and slums around the world. That’s why we’re so passionate about providing holistic care for our kids; including safe, loving homes, medical care, sustainability projects that teach life skills, and education funding.
“The Hunchback of Notre Dame” centers around 3 orphans (Frollo, Jehan, and Quasimodo) whose stories all end tragically. But with your help, we can write a different ending for the 189 children in our care! The donations from this show will help us provide tangible HOPE to orphans in Thailand, Burma, India & Africa.
If you’re in the Central Alabama or Northeast Alabama area (or if you’re up for a drive to Gadsden, AL), we hope to see you at this show: Saturday, October 12th at 7:00pm. Purchase tickets HERE – and look for our table in the lobby. We’d love to meet you and share more about our work in person! [Can’t attend, but still want to #giveHOPE? Make a donation in honor of this fundraiser HERE!]
We are grateful to the cast and crew of this show – and especially to Cody Carlton (CharACTers founder & director) for choosing to partner with us. Thank you for helping us shift the script for the kids in our care – to give them a happy ending, full of HOPE.
