Give Your Year-End Gift Today!
First, thank you.
From The Sound of Hope and from the children we care for around the world, thank you for your continued support. Because of you, we’ve been able to bring tangible hope in the form of rescue, protection, and holistic care to over 200 children in our 4 partnership countries. As you can see below, this has been our biggest year to date! But the work is far from over. As we look ahead to 2013, we’re dreaming up even bigger ways to give HOPE to children in need.
Swaziland
This tiny kingdom has been devastated by HIV/AIDS, leaving behind over 150,000 orphans and vulnerable children. The Sound of Hope is helping care for 115 of these children by sponsoring The Anchor Center carepoint in Nsoko. Here, children receive 2 hot meals a day, basic medical care, and guidance from a mentoring team. This year we were able to provide enough school fees so that all 112 school age children at our carepoint could get an education! We also started Phase 1 of a Community Garden project that’s helping provide food for 184 people in the Nsoko Community. We’re excited to see it grow in 2013!
India
Sex trafficking, forced begging, gendercide, and organ harvesting – these are just a few of the horrors that children in India face everyday. But at the homes we support in Delhi and Kolkata, the children are safe, happy, and loved! Unfortunately, the government is threatening to shut down any homes running in rental properties. Our challenge in the next 2 years is to buy land and build 2 permanent, family-style homes for the 86 children we help care for. We also hope to add small libraries to each home, to improve the children’s literacy and to help cultivate their imaginations!
Burma
Genocide has been happening in Burma for over 60 years. Children here face real risks of death, human-trafficking, and being forced to fight as child soldiers. But 16 children were lucky enough to escape into a refugee camp on the Thai/Burma border. At The Refuge Children’s Home, these students have found a safe place to live, grow, and get an education. Through sustainability projects that include 40 ducks, 4 pigs, 5 turkeys, 2 fishponds, and 2 gardens, they are learning valuable skills like farming and raising livestock. Next year, we’re hoping to add a library that will improve their educational resources inside the refugee camp.
Thailand
Thailand is our newest partnership, and we are excited to watch it grow in 2013! We recently bought and renovated a beautiful house that will be used as a new, family-style Children’s Home. We are hoping to welcome our first 5 children in February. Our vision is to see this grow as a safe, loving home for little girls who are at risk of abuse, human-trafficking, and other dangers. This partnership includes a large piece of farmland, which we hope will create sustainable income for the home while providing a way to teach the children valuable life skills.
Help us start 2013 strong! Our children have a lot of needs in the coming year, and we can’t care for them without your support. Please give your tax-deductible year-end gift today and join us as we work to give hope to orphans and vulnerable children around the world!
