One year later…

This week marks one year since The Promised Land Children’s Home opened. Today we’re celebrating a whole year of love, laughter, education, safety, and HOPE for these 8 little girls in Thailand!

So much has changed since this home opened. The first few months were really focused on helping these girls adjust to their new life together… to begin to heal their hearts, and to teach them how to be family to each other. They were settling into a new city, a new school, and a new home. Since then, we have truly seen them THRIVE!

FAMILY

We’ve seen these 8 children go from shy, scared little girls to giggly, happy sisters. They truly love each other and their House Mom, Rapee. More and more they’re coming out of their shells and realizing they are safe, loved, and accepted. We can see the JOY on their faces with each new set of pictures!

EDUCATION

These girls came from unstable homes in impoverished villages, and in their current state, the odds were stacked against them. Now they are excelling in their new schools! All of our girls are in the top 15 of their school classes, and their teachers constantly brag on them to the House Mom. One of our girls, Ganjana, is even at the top of her class!

SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS

In the past year, our partners have established 4 sustainability projects at the home, with a 5th in the works! Right now they have a thriving garden, and a large fish pond, and they are raising both turkeys and pigs. They’ve also already built a frog pond (which will be another food source), and are planning to buy tadpoles in the next few weeks.

These projects not only provide food for the home, they are also teaching the girls valuable life skills. We’re excited that they are learning how to garden and raise livestock, in addition to getting a quality education!

Right now, we are looking for monthly donors to support this home. For the past year we have been able to support them through general donations and a few special donors who have given large gifts – but we really need people who are dedicated to giving monthly to support these sweet girls.

We need $2,000 a month to run this home for our 8 little girls. That means it costs just $250 each month to meet the needs of one child. If we could just find 8 people to give this amount monthly, then this home would be fully funded!
