A word from our founders

By Ericka | May 30, 2026

“Sixteen years ago this month, we sat down and filed the paperwork to make The Sound of Hope an official non-profit. If someone had told us then that we’d go on to raise nearly $1.6 million dollars, build children’s homes in multiple countries, and change hundreds of young lives — we probably wouldn’t have believed them.

But here we are.

We have poured our hearts, and many years of our lives into this work. You can watch the years pass in the photos below… starting with first one in Swaziland in 2008 – when we were still just dating and dreaming of doing this work with The Anchor Center Carepoint in Nsoko!

These 16 photos are just a glimpse into the many memories we’ve made, the relationships we’ve built, and the HOPE we have shared together. It’s meant so much to do this as a couple – and now with our daughter – as a family. We’ll never be able to say THANK YOU enough to every donor who has trusted us and partnered with us in this world-changing work.

This month, The Sound of Hope turned 16. While it’s no longer our full-time focus, our commitment to the children in India and Thailand hasn’t wavered. We’re just $5,368 away from officially crossing the $1.6 million milestone of total funds raised – which would give us some much needed monthly funding and education funding for the kids! (And it would be extra special to hit that number this year!) Will you help us get there?

Sixteen years of hope — let’s keep it going!”
