Christmas in Swaziland 2012

By Ericka | December 23, 2012

A few weeks ago the Anchor Center Christmas Party happened in Nsoko, and thanks to your generous donations our sweet Swazi kids had a WONDERFUL day! It started out with them all singing and dancing together (a beautiful sight and sound!) Then they listened to the Christmas story, and watched a little skit put on by a visiting team.

Then, it was time for their special Christmas meal! The Gogos (Grandmother’s) cooked quite the feast! There was stewed beef, chicken, rice, beet root, coleslaw, spinach, and juice – which is really special to kids who typically eat just paap and beans. As a matter of fact, most of these kids only get meat a few times a year. So this meal was a TREAT!

After lunch it was time for games! There were relay races, a water balloon toss, and a fun Christmas game of “Pin The Star Over Bethlehem too!”

Before long it was time for presents. Because of your generosity, the Gogos who voluntarily cook for the kids everyday, were able to get gifts. They were so excited about their washing bins full of presents!

Each child also got a gift bag full of school supplies, hygiene items (like toothpaste and a toothbrush), a small toy, lollipops, hard candy, and other special treats. They were thrilled!

Your gift help put a smile on the face of a child that would have otherwise been forgotten this Christmas. THANK YOU for giving to this project and making this special day possible for these precious children!
