Welcome to Kolkata!
What a welcome! This is the first thing we saw when we drove up to our Girls Home last week…
… and here’s a closer look at the beautiful sign the girls drew for us. Sushila and Priyanka are very talented artists!
We were so happy to be back with these sweet girls – even if it was just for a few days. I know several of you have asked for an update on the Asha Mission Girls… so here’s the latest. Due to some new government restrictions on Children’s Homes, the girls could not stay in Delhi (in the same home as the boys). Our partners decided the best thing would be for them to move to Kolkata, into a rental property they had used before, with a loving couple they knew well for their new caregivers.
They’ve only been in Kolkata a few weeks, and still needed mattresses, blankets, and a lot of little things to help them settle in to their new home. So we went out and shopped until we dropped! As you can see from the video below, they loved their new sweaters, jackets, socks, sheets, pillows, blankets, and toiletries – but they REALLY loved their pillow pets! We’ve also placed an order for mattresses that will arrive in a few days. We were SO glad we could buy the things they need to be comfortable in their new home.

We finished our last night in Kolkata with pedicures (they deserve to be pampered!), movie time (they loved Frozen!), a dance party, and lots of candy! (It was Halloween after all!) It was a wonderful way to end our visit with our girls!
