Update from Thailand: Emergency Surgery for one of our girls!
We got a disturbing phone call in the middle of the night last week, all the way from Thailand. Ganjana, our youngest girl at Baan Choo Jai (our Thailand Girls’ Home) had been admitted to the hospital. We were very worried. After 3 days of testing and a lot of pain, the doctors finally realized she had appendicitis and needed emergency surgery.
The hospital she was in (near the Children’s Home) did not have a surgeon – so she was transported to a different hospital in a larger province. She made it through the surgery well, but then continued to run a high fever – which was very concerning. It took several additional days in the hospital before she could be discharged. Today though, we are very happy to report that her fever is gone, and she has been released to recover at home!
We are so glad she’s okay! But now we have hospital bills that must be paid. These bills were not a part of the normal monthly budget, and we do not have the funding to meet this need. We’ve had 2 generous donors give $250 already – so now we only need $600 to pay these bills. Can you believe that? Just $600 more will cover the cost of her surgery, hospital stay, transportation to the hospital, and her follow up visit this month. It isn’t much to us in America – but in Thailand, that is a tremendous amount of money. If we cannot raise these funds, they will have to use money set back for school fees to pay this bill (and we can’t let that happen!)
So please – if you’re reading this, consider giving. Any amount will help – large or small! The bill is due May 10th, so please give now! You can donate online here (just type “Thailand medical” in the designation box ) or mail a check to: The Sound of Hope, PO Box 320044, Birmingham, AL 35232.
We will keep you updated on Ganjana’s health as she recovers. Thank you for giving, and thank you for caring about this precious little girl!<
