Happy 8th Birthday to us!
The Sound of Hope is one year older today! We feel so lucky to be able to do this life-changing work year after year. We’re grateful to our incredible donors – who partner with us and faithfully give to make this work possible. There are 176 children in our care right now – and hundreds of others over the past 8 years – who have benefited from your generosity. THANK YOU for helping us #giveHOPE to kids in need around the world!
This year we hit a huge milestone by surpassing $1,000,000.00 raised! (Click here to watch that video.) We are proud to know that money has been invested into precious lives in Africa, India, Thailand, and Burma – children’s lives that have been saved and changed for the better. Our kids have been rescued out of brothels, slums, streets, leper colonies, impoverished villages, and refugee camps. These boys and girls now have access to healthy food, clean water, and quality medical care. They are ALL getting an education and learning life skills – which will give them the opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty and achieve their dreams. Just today we found out one of our amazing kids from Burma, June Paw, has been accepted to a GED program in Chiang Mai. She has completed her classes at the local high school, and this program will help her pursue her dream of getting a higher education and becoming a doctor. All of this is possible because of the dedication of our international partners, and because of YOU – our incredible donors!
And we aren’t slowing down! Today we’re launching another fundraiser for our Girls’ Home in Northern Thailand. It’s the hottest, driest time of the year in Thailand, with temperatures regularly in the 90’s and 100’s. Our Girls’ Home, Baan Choo Jai, is located in a small town whose water supply cannot keep up with the heat. This time of year brings water shortages, forcing the house parents and children to regularly ration water. City-wide announcements each week dictate the availability of water for the home.
In an effort to help during these dry times each year, the government has encouraged their residents to build permanent, cement water tanks on their property. These structures can be filled with water from the city’s tanker trucks (that draw water from the local rivers). While this water is not safe for drinking or cooking – it can be used for bathing, cleaning, doing laundry, and also to water their gardens and livestock at Baan Choo Jai (which are food sources for the children).
Will you help us make this project a reality for our girls? Please partner with us to ensure that these children have the water they need today – and in the hottest days of each year to come! We can’t think of a better birthday gift than a donation to meet this need. Click the button below to find out more and to give today!
