Happy 10th Birthday! (Our B’day Bash Recap)

By Ericka | June 30, 2020

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! Last month, The Sound of Hope officially turned 10 years old! Though the current pandemic would not allow for a (safe) in-person event, we still felt it was important to celebrate the past 10 YEARS of giving HOPE.

In case you missed our virtual event (held on our Facebook page), we hope you’ll “join us” now by watching this replay. There is so much we want to share about the last decade, and so many THANK YOU’s we need to say to each and every donor who has partnered with us since 2010! You’ve helped us #giveHOPE to hundreds of children in Thailand, Burma, India, & Swaziland – and that is worth celebrating! So pull up a chair and watch below…

Our amazing friends Katie & Patrick Reed hosted a “stay-at-home” social-distanced Benefit Concert (along with Patrick’s sister Kristin Mathis) to celebrate and raise funding with us! We had some bad weather that caused us technical difficulties – but luckily they were able to continue on with the music by moving their backyard plans into the basement. Live music is something we’re all missing these days, and we are so thankful they shared their talents with all of us. Click through on the image below to listen to their show!

We shared in the first video (and this blog), that our goal was to raise $10,000 total for 10 years.  As you can see above, more than $1,125 was raised for The Sound of Hope during this concert! (Multiple donors gave through other giving platforms.) Thank you Katie, Patrick & Kristin for using your voices to be “The Sound of Hope!” Because of these generous gifts, we were able to meet one of our Birthday Gift Goals – to purchase a motorbike for our House Mom in India! You can read more about that need here. We are so excited to share that Simini has already been able to purchase the bike, and she now has safe, reliable transportation during this global pandemic. (We will be sharing photos of her with her new bike soon!) THANK YOU DONORS!

We also raised a portion of the money needed to ship a food container to our children in Swaziland [Eswatini], Africa. In addition to what we raised, our partner organization raised another $6,000. That means we are just $1,500 away from meeting our BIRTHDAY GOAL!

Will you give an extra gift today, so that we can meet this need? Your donation will help provide meals of fortified rice to our children in Africa, during a time when their normal food supply is interrupted (due to the global pandemic). We are SO close to meeting this $9,000 need! You can read more about it and DONATE HERE.

We closed the night with one more special video – and you won’t want to miss it. Our beautiful daughter Kate joined us to throw some confetti and eat some cake… so please don’t keep scrolling without hitting PLAY!

THANK YOU donors and friends for celebrating all that we’ve accomplished together this decade! We sincerely hope you will continue partnering with us in the years to come. We are doing world-changing, life-saving work – and our kids need us now, more than ever! Thank you for helping us keep HOPE alive!
