Christmas in India :: 2012
First of all, let me share the WONDERFUL news that our Christmas in Swaziland Fundraiser is now FULLY FUNDED! We heard some amazing stories from those of you who gave – including the story of an 11 year old boy in Arkansas who donated 10 weeks of his allowance to make sure all our sweet Swazi kids have a special Christmas this year. He said, “I just couldn’t stand to think of any of the children without a special meal or a gift!” Talk about INSPIRING! We were so moved by your generosity, and we can’t wait to share pictures from the event with all of you!
But today, we’re facing another BIG need. Christmas is coming in India, but WINTER is already there! With each passing day, the temperatures continue to drop. Our hearts are with the 86 little boys and girls we support in Delhi and Kolkata at this time of year, and we want to do everything we can to make sure they are taken care of in the cold weather. It’s not toys or candy they need this Christmas, it’s BLANKETS and SWEATERS!
So, as you’re shopping for Christmas gifts for your loved ones, would you please buy an extra gift for a child in need? Just $20 will buy a warm blanket, $25 will buy one warm winter outfit, and $40 will buy a winter school uniform. These are neccesities that the children need to make it through the winter! I have been to India in the wintertime, and it can get bitterly cold. Will you help us make sure every single one of our kids gets tucked in under a warm blanket every night?
HERE ARE THE DETAILS:
$20 will buy one warm, winter blanket.
Between our 3 Children’s Homes, we have 86 children who need blankets. That’s a total of $1,720 needed. It gets especially cold at night in India, and the cold is made worse by the fact that many of the children have to sleep on the floor. A thick winter blanket is needed to keep them warm and cozy through the night!
$25 will buy one warm set of winter clothes.
Between our 3 Children’s homes, we have 86 children who need new winter clothes. That’s a total of $2,150 needed. This is especially important for the smallest children, who stay at home all day. Most of the homes in India are concrete, open air buildings, which can be very chilly in the winter! The little ones need sweaters, hats, socks, and gloves to keep them warm!
$40 will buy one full winter school uniform.
Between our 3 Children’s Homes, we have 80 children who need winter school uniforms. That’s a total of $3,200 needed. This is extremely important because it not only protects them from the cold, it is required that they have the proper uniform to attend school. Your donation will ensure that these children continue getting an education!
$85 will sponsor one child for Christmas.
As you can see if you add the items above, $85 is the total amount needed to sponsor one child in India for Christmas. This will provide a little boy or little girl with a warm blanket, a new winter outfit, and a winter school uniform!
Please, consider buying an extra Christmas gift this year that will wrap a needy child in warmth! Give a gift for each of your children, nieces or nephews. Sponsor a child in honor of someone special on your Christmas list, or in memory of a loved one. This year, give a gift that really matters. Give the gift of HOPE!
